We also offer image guided injections for the treatment of other bodily pains including the thorax (chest), shoulder, hip, sacroiliac joint, knee, in addition to other peripheral neuropathies (such as carpal tunnel syndrome), chronic headaches, degenerative joint disease, and complex regional pain syndrome.
MULTIDISIPLINARY PAIN MANAGEMENT
We look at the whole picture
Keep yourself and your loved ones pain-free! Interventional Pain Management represents an exciting frontier for managing pain. New therapies represent a more immediate and lasting form of relief to patients than drugs, physical therapy, or chiropractic manipulation alone. Our localized treatments often offers an alternative to costly and debilitating back surgeries as we directly target your pain generating area with our state of the art technology. Together, this technology and our medical personnel's extensive training in interventional pain management leads to our highly successful treatment outcomes with very low complication rates.
Cape Cod Pain Management is one of the few centers worldwide which regularly performs the full range of advanced procedures available in Interventional Pain Management. This extensive experience allows us to select from the various alternatives that ensure the patients receive the appropriate therapy. While these treatments are new to many patients, all of our procedures have been approved by the FDA and extensively researched. And while many of our patients choose to remain awake during their procedure, our practice does offer the option for anesthesia with all of our procedures in order to provide a more relaxed and less painful treatment. Regardless of your choice, our friendly and experienced staff will make sure you always feel comfortable and well-informed throughout your treatment.
INITIAL CONSULTATION
Quality Care
We want to know everything we can in order to best understand your condition and help you choose the best treatment option. At your initial consultation, our team will obtain your complete medical history, review any previous imaging studies with you, perform a thorough physical examination, discuss your condition, and talk with you about possible treatment options. Further imaging studies and lab work may also be ordered in order to help our team best understand and treat your pain.
PROCEDURE PREPARATION
A Personalized Approach
At Cape Cod Pain Management, we work closely with insurance companies to ensure that procedures are approved in a timely manner. As a result, scheduling a procedure has become simpler than ever before, which allows our patients to often have their procedure within a few days of their consultation. If a procedure is part of your treatment plan, our personalized procedure preparation provide patients with the resources you need to arrive at our surgical center well informed and confident that your health is in good hands.
PROCEDURE DAY
Here For You
Arrive at the scheduled time that was provided to you when your appointment was scheduled in order to check-in with our front-office staff. After registration, a member of our medical staff will review any changes in your health, review your medications, obtain your vital signs and answer any questions you may have prior to your injection. You will also be interviewed by the surgeon and receive specific education and instructions on the procedure that you have been scheduled. If you elect to have I.V. anesthesia, a member of our anesthesia staff will perform a pre-operative interview, insert an I.V. for the anesthetic medication, and answer any questions you have. Next is the procedure, which generally lasts less than 15 minutes. After the procedure, you will have a short recovery where a dedicated post-operative nurse will monitor you, review your discharge instructions, and provide you with a follow up appointment. All of our procedures require you to have a responsible adult with you to drive you home after the procedure.
AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE
A Happier, Healthier You
Now comes the question that everyone asks: When will I start feeling pain relief? Patients may or may not feel immediate pain relief. If there is immediate discomfort from the procedure, the patient can place ice packs on the affected area. In most cases, patients may begin to feel relief in their affected area about 2 to 3 days after the procedure. The duration of this pain relief varies from person to person depending on their underlying diagnosis and symptoms, prior surgeries, and other past medical history. Due to this variability, it is standard at Cape Cod Pain Management to have all patients return for a post-procedure follow-up to discuss how they are feeling and if further treatment is necessary.
